- A complaint about a school goes to the Local Government Education Authority for the area and to the board that manages the school.
- Anything alleging misconduct towards a child, or an unlawful charge, goes straight to the Permanent Secretary and is acted on the same day.
- Compliments are recorded on the teacher’s or officer’s file and reported to the board’s Establishment and Discipline Committee.
- Suggestions are reviewed each term by the directorate concerned; several changes on this site began as a suggestion here.
Disputing a mark rather than a service?
A challenge to a released examination mark is an application for a remark, not feedback, and must be lodged within thirty days of release on form MOE/EXM/06. Submitting feedback does not stop that clock.
How to apply for a remark
You may submit anonymously, but leaving contact details lets us tell you the outcome.
Feedback concerning the conduct of an officer or a teacher is routed to the Permanent Secretary, and anything touching the safety of a child is acted on the same day. No pupil is treated adversely because feedback was submitted, and a complaint may never be answered by excluding a child from school.
