Work out a grade, or a fee
Two calculators using exactly the rules the Ministry applies: the WAEC grading bands with the aggregate and credit count worked line by line, and the approved school fee and levy ceilings itemised charge by charge. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.

This is an estimate, not a result.
It applies the published WAEC bands to the scores you enter. An official result is issued against an examination number and can be looked up at the result checker. Nothing entered here is transmitted to the Ministry.

The school and the child
Choose the kind of school, then tick the charges that actually apply. Tuition in a public school is nil at every level.
Charges that apply
Basic education is free.
No public school in Kano State may charge tuition, a development levy or a uniform charge for a pupil in Primary 1 to JSS 3. A school that does is acting outside the Compulsory, Free Universal Basic Education Act — report it to your LGA education office or on the feedback form.

What is never charged
- Tuition in any public school, at any level, in Kano State.
- BECE, WASSCE and SSCE entry for a candidate in a public school — the State pays it in full.
- A textbook, exercise book or item of furniture supplied by the State.
- A transfer certificate, a testimonial or a result slip.
- The daily meal served to a pupil in Primary 1 to Primary 3.
The WAEC grading bands
Used across Kano State for continuous assessment, promotion examinations, BECE, the Qualifying Examination, WASSCE and NECO. A credit is C6 or better; a pass at D7 or E8 is not a credit.
| Grade | Raw score | Interpretation | Points | Counts as a credit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A1 | 75 – 100 | Excellent | 1 | Credit |
| B2 | 70 – 74 | Very Good | 2 | Credit |
| B3 | 65 – 69 | Good | 3 | Credit |
| C4 | 60 – 64 | Credit | 4 | Credit |
| C5 | 55 – 59 | Credit | 5 | Credit |
| C6 | 50 – 54 | Credit | 6 | Credit |
| D7 | 45 – 49 | Pass | 7 | Pass only |
| E8 | 40 – 44 | Pass | 8 | Pass only |
| F9 | 0 – 39 | Fail | 9 | Fail |
A lower aggregate is a better result: nine subjects all at A1 give an aggregate of 9 on the best-eight convention of 8. The Ministry uses the aggregate for placement into senior secondary, science secondary and technical schools.
